Pekin

Type: true bantam
Colours: barred, black, blue, buff, columbian, cuckoo, lavender, mottled, partridge, white
History: Buff Pekins were brought to Britain from Peking (Beijing) in 1860 by British Army. As with so many other breeds, today's Pekins are thought to bear little resemblance to originals.
In the past (in China 150 years ago), the birds were taller, more upright, harder feathered, and generally bigger.
Today the males weigh around 680 grams, and females around 570 grams.

The Pekins are extremely popular garden pet. Having them as an exhibition bird, requires breeding skills and knowledge.
